Dallas Image Coach Julie Thurburn with Colour IQ asks: Is Fear Your Mentor?
Fear is not a good mentor. Fear will exhaust your emotional reserves and devour your finances. Creating marketing strategies or life strategies out of fear will not help you feel smart, confident, or focused. If you are tired of fear invading your life, there is another option: Coaching.
I love a new venture and creating events that solve my clients problems with wardrobe or makeup issues, but the most satisfying is when they also get ‘clear’. Really clear inside that beautiful heart and mind. Identifying intentions and then creating a strategy to create or maintain integrity that is aligned with those intentions is life changing. Dressing well definitely has its merits. But if the internal conversation is not cleaned up, it’s just costuming. True transformation takes place on the inside and shows up on the outside.
David Pinkley’s article (in the ForbesWoman LinkedIn Group) reminded me of the value of mentoring and coaching. As in ‘having’ one, not ‘being’ one. Not one athlete at the top of their game can sustain being at the top of their game without a personal coach. If you want to participate in your life at a higher level, you have to have a coach. Do you have one?
Not being an athlete as a child, I had no exposure to personal coaching. But as an adult learning to find my way through various life craters (such as divorce and single parenting), I reached a point when I realized that coaching would help me see which (if any) of my so-called strategies were actually helping and worth keeping. To my surprise and delight…I had a couple, just not enough. The more work I did, the more I saw just how difficult I was making my own path. Freedom from the blame game…the emotional globs…cleared the space I needed to stretch into a higher level of thinking and doing.
